Marking Files

At the heart of TagNBag is the ability to simply select the files you need backed up, using the same methods you use to view them, i.e. Windows Explorer.

Mark a file

To mark a file, you simply open Windows Explorer to the directory containing the file you want backed up, select it, then do a right mouse click (RMC) to bring up a Context Menu.  The TagNBag shell extension causes a new menu item to appear: Mark for backup.

Clicking this menu item causes the selected file to be included in any subsequent backup performed by TagNBag.  An icon is shown in the lower right hand corner of the marked file to indicate that it will be part of a backup.

Unmark a file

You can remove the mark on a file by selecting it and doing another RMC.  The context menu will now have an item saying Unmark.

Mark a directory

You can also mark a directory just as you would a file.  This causes all the contents of the directory to also be marked.  This includes the subdirectories contained in the directory, and there contents, recursively.  Subsequent backups will include all these files. Alternatively, you can Exclude a contained file or directory from the backup set.

You can also unmark a directory just as you would a file.  All the marked contents in the directory will also be unmarked.
